Organic extra virgin olive oil from Corfu "Lianelia variety"
Organic extra virgin olive oil from Corfu "Lianelia variety"
Harvest Oct-Nov 2024
A most unusual and exceptional high phenolic olive oil, produced in Corfu from a rare local variety called Lianolia, which is very rich in antioxidants.
It has the name of a visionary's local orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Kavvadias, who understood that olive oil was the best example of the ancient Greek saying (Hippocrates): "Let food be your medicine and medicine your food." The good doctor was ahead of his time and understood not only the health benefits of olive oil, but also the importance of “happy” trees that would produce the best fruit possible. He planted an estate using a combination of techniques that encompass permaculture and sustainable agriculture.
Lianolia (Olea europea var. craneomorpha).
Also called Merolia, Ladolia, Korfolia, Dopia.
The predominant variety found in Corfu. Most of the trees are of centennial origin, dating back at least 300 years. The olive oil produced contains surprisingly high levels of antioxidant polyphenols, which many studies have shown are beneficial to our health.
This oil from the Lianolia variety, is a balanced olive oil of medium intensity, with a strong, deliciously bitter and spicy flavour.
